What to wear with a pilot jacket in autumn and winter 2024/2025?
The pilot jacket (or aviator jacket) is one of those cultural phenomena that everyone has definitely seen, but not everyone can name. Such a jacket has a characteristic appearance and an interesting history.
So we're talking about the bomber jacket?
Not quite. The products have common features in design and origin, but there are also enough differences. The terms are related and can be confused, the models "grew" from one another, but it is still possible to distinguish between the concepts.
In our article, we focus on a fairly warm jacket that has a number of characteristic features: traditionally made of leather or suede, has a large collar with fur (originally natural). A belt often runs underneath. Today, instead of leather and fur, substitutes are actively relevant, sometimes you can find quilted or textile variations (for example, knitted) and a modified design, but the idea remains recognizable.
A bomber jacket is more often called a light synthetic windbreaker with a low stand-up collar, elastic waistband and cuffs. In the autumn-winter line, you can see both intermediate models and those in which this difference is clearly expressed.
How to choose a stylish jacket: fashionable colors and textures?
A women's pilot jacket in any case has a loose silhouette, which is the best fit for current fashion trends. To support the prevailing oversize trend as much as possible, you can find a product specially tailored in this cut. The jacket will look even more voluminous, and you - more fragile.
Moreover, from a practical point of view, this is justified: it will be comfortable to wear warm clothes underneath, which means that frosts will not force you to give up your look with a “pilot” for a longer time. At the same time, you do not need to cover your legs with voluminous trousers or a fluffy skirt, flared lines. Leave the silhouette elongated.
Regular models end at the pelvis. The extended version goes down lower, to about mid-thigh. This is a good solution for those with a pear-shaped figure , a “heavy” lower half of the body. The horizontal border should not go along the wide part of the figure, as it will visually widen it even more.
The next line should be placed approximately in the middle of the shin – this should be the length of the skirt or trousers. Or you can use the fashion for the illusion of bare legs and wear something ultra-short, barely showing from under the aviator jacket.
It's easy to get the cropped version wrong - it can highlight a petite woman's tiny waist or the perfect hourglass figure , but if you're not confident in this area, you won't achieve the desired effect. In any case, you shouldn't add extra volume to your hips with baggy pants or a skirt. Things should fit your figure in this area.
A popular color solution for a “pilot” is to dress in one color and throw on a contrasting jacket: white over a “total black” look or vice versa. In general, it copes well with the role of a color accent, no matter what shade you choose. Even in the case of a complete monochrome, a difference of at least a few tones between the “pilot” and the rest of the elements is enough to make the look interesting and balanced.
The most stylish colors of "Aviators" for this season, besides the classic brown and black shades:
- champagne color;
- beige;
- cream;
- dusty pink;
- light gray;
- ginger;
- red;
- green.
Accessories
Wrapping a huge scarf around a jacket of this style is definitely not worth it, since it looks strange with the collar - one of the highlights of the jacket. Or at least hides it, so the question arises, wouldn't it have been easier to initially take a jacket of a different model? In warm autumn, the only acceptable solution is a scarf under the collar, in no case on top. In winter - a voluminous warm collar of a sweater or you can wrap the jacket completely.
