HOW TO CHOOSE A MEN'S VEST
A vest is a versatile and important item in any man’s wardrobe. This is no secret for everyone who has worn it at least once: the vest looks great with a jacket, a tailcoat, or on its own. If you still don’t have a single model, we advise you to get one, because a good vest is suitable for any occasion.
How to choose the size?
There is nothing difficult if you know your clothing size, and if necessary, you can always use the help of a consultant. However, do not forget to consider the basic selection rules:
- The vest should not hang loosely on you and should not be overly tight. It is important to remember the golden mean;
- a good model is one that fits exactly to your figure;
- The cut can be different: both loose and tapered. Decide which option seems more convenient to you.
Choosing material
Wool is the most popular option, and it's worth choosing a thicker vest. Thin fabric quickly becomes unusable, begins to shine and wears out. It is better to pay more, but at the same time be sure that the vest will last you a long time.
Cashmere is a more expensive and, of course, more aesthetic material. Few people afford real cashmere vests - but those who purchase them look impeccable, regardless of the situation. We recommend not saving money if you often attend official events.
Suede is a versatile and comfortable material, but vests made from it are extremely rare. There are two main reasons for this: firstly, suede models are always very expensive, and secondly, such fabric requires special, careful care. Not everyone can handle a thing so carefully, so people who forget about this, suede clothes do not last long.
Leather is not a material for everyone. Of course, leather vests look stylish and unusual, inexorably remind us of bikers, and look only better over time, but such a model has no place in a business setting - it’s an informal thing.
Cotton is an option for warm weather. This fabric hardly heats up, and you should definitely take this into account before purchasing. Among other things, cotton wrinkles a lot, and if you don’t like ironing, it’s better to choose something else.
Silk is a stylish and unusual material. Silk vests are rare, but they look luxurious, and it is from this fabric that, as a rule, models of the craziest colors are sewn. If bright shiny things are not your option, we advise you to take a closer look at vests made from a mixture of silk and wool: they are matte and have almost no shine.
Basic models of men's vests
Everyone knows how designers love to give free rein to their imagination, so if you wish, you can select many types of vests - but it makes sense to focus on the main three. Everything that appeared after them were variations on motives.
Classic vest
This model is usually sold as part of a suit - along with trousers and a jacket. Extremely simple and comfortable, such a vest can be presented in one of two options: either with an open or closed back. The first option is always recognizable by the deep cutout in the front.
If you often have to wear a tailcoat, it is better to choose a closed vest. In the open you will be mistaken for a waiter.
Relaxed Vest
This category includes any fabric model that is not suitable for business meetings and special occasions.
For example, we can highlight:
- knitted vests;
- leather models;
- Denim options.
Here you don’t need to suffer from the agony of choice: you just need to buy the model that you like best. But don’t forget that any vest should be appropriate.
Insulated vest
If it’s rarely warm in your city, it makes sense to think about buying an insulated model. But in this case, we advise you to take a closer look at the cutouts for the arms: buy a vest with deep cutouts - and you will certainly get cold muscles.
You should also remember that warmth in this case is much more important than style. In the cold, no one cares what you look like: the main thing is not to get sick.
